Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Jacksonville, FL
Ask Your Jacksonville Dental Experts
One of the main things that distinguishes our dental office from other dental offices is that we take the time to thoroughly explain everything to our patients so they can become active participants in their dental care. As such, we’re always happy to answer questions, and below, you’ll find our responses to some of the most popular ones we receive every day.
How often should I get a checkup and cleaning?
The standard recommendation is for people of all ages to receive a professional checkup and cleaning at least twice a year, though some patients may benefit from more frequent visits (such as those who have previously been diagnosed with gum disease).
Which one is best: a manual or electric toothbrush?
Both types of brushes are effective at removing cavity-causing plaque and food particles from the teeth and gums, so if you have good oral health, then there is no need to switch. However, electric toothbrushes tend to be recommended for small children as well as people who have mobility issues.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Basically, if you are experiencing any out-of-the-ordinary oral symptoms, it’s alright to go ahead and give us a call. It’s better to be safe than sorry! If we can’t help you address your problem over the phone, we can go ahead and schedule a same-day appointment.
How long will it take to fix my tooth?
This can vary depending on the type and extent of the damage sustained by a tooth. For example, a minor cavity can usually be repaired in a single appointment using a tooth-colored filling, while a severely decayed or broken tooth may require two appointments to be fitted with a crown.
Will you take my dental insurance?
Jacksonville Dental Excellence is a 100% fee-for-service dental office, which means we are NOT in-network with any dental insurance plans. This gives us the freedom to deliver the highest quality care possible without being restricted by a plan’s coverage.
Can I finance my dental care?
Yes! We offer low-to-no interest financing that you can sign up for right through our website. With it, you can break up the cost of your care across 6 months or more so that it fits easily into your budget. To learn more about your options and select a plan, visit our For Patients page.
